What you agree to when you book Lock717.
1. Pricing & payment. The applicable Day, Evening or Night rate is based on the time Lock717 arrives at the job address. If the booking is close to a price change, I’ll confirm the expected price before attending. Payment is due on completion unless otherwise agreed.
The Bank Holiday charge applies where Lock717 arrives between 8am on a Bank Holiday and 8am the following morning.
2. Quotes & job details. Quotes are based on the information provided when booking. If the job turns out to require different work from what was described, this will be discussed with you before anything additional is carried out or charged.
Any arrival time provided is an estimate. Traffic, weather, distance and earlier emergency jobs may cause delays, and I’ll let you know if this happens.
3. Deposit. A deposit equal to 50% of the applicable entry rate is required for Evening and Night emergency bookings and is deducted from the final bill. If an attendance or cancellation charge applies, only the amount required to cover that charge will be taken from the deposit, with any remaining balance refunded. If I cancel the booking, the deposit will be refunded.
Please do not pay a deposit until I have confirmed availability and the job has been discussed and agreed.
4. Cancellation & attendance. If you cancel after I’ve begun travelling to you, a charge of up to 50% of the applicable entry rate may apply, depending on the time and travel already committed.
If I have arrived at the job address and the work cannot go ahead because you decide not to proceed, nobody is available to provide access or authority, or important information about the address or job was missing, incorrect or misleading and not promptly corrected, I may charge up to 50% of the applicable entry rate to cover time and travel already committed. A charge would only apply where this means I cannot safely or reasonably carry out the job.
If you ask me to stop after work has started, you remain responsible for the reasonable cost of the work carried out up to that point, including any entry already completed and materials used. Where the service has been substantially completed, this may amount to the full agreed price.
5. Authority to gain entry. By requesting entry, you confirm that you are legally entitled to access the property or vehicle, or have the owner’s authority. Identification or other evidence may be requested and service may be refused where authority cannot reasonably be established.
6. Entry & potential damage. Reasonable care and skill will be used and non-destructive methods will be preferred where reasonably appropriate. Non-destructive entry cannot be guaranteed. Where destructive entry is required, the method and any material known risks will be explained before proceeding where reasonably possible, and destructive work will only begin with your agreement.
Locksmith entry can involve an inherent risk of damage to locks, doors, handles, frames, vehicle components or surrounding property. Lock717 is not responsible for unavoidable damage arising from an authorised method carried out with reasonable care and skill, or damage caused by pre-existing faults or weaknesses that were not reasonably apparent beforehand.
7. Right to refuse work. Lock717 may decline or stop work where there are reasonable concerns about authority, safety, legality or where the work falls outside the services offered.
8. Car entry. Car entry is for keys locked inside only. It does not include replacing, cutting, cloning or programming keys, or diagnosing or repairing faults involving the key, lock, alarm, central locking, battery or vehicle electrics. These terms also apply to any other vehicle I agree to provide entry services for, including vans, trucks and commercial vehicles.
9. Replacements & faults. The price of any replacement lock will be agreed before fitting. If the same lock as the one being replaced isn’t available, a suitable alternative can be chosen from the replacement options shown on the prices page. If a door or lock cannot be left secure after entry and you decline an agreed replacement or further work, I will explain the risk before leaving, but you will be responsible for arranging the property’s security afterwards.
Customer-supplied locks can be fitted if agreed beforehand and charged at the standard fitting rate. Any lock or other part supplied by the customer is fitted at the customer’s own risk. Lock717 is not responsible for unrelated faults or pre-existing issues with the door, handle or locking mechanism.
10. Urgent work & cancellation rights. If you ask me to attend or begin work straight away, you are requesting that the service starts immediately. If you later cancel, you may still need to pay for the time, travel or work already committed, as explained in section 4. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
11. NHS & Emergency Services discount. Current NHS, police, fire and ambulance staff receive 10% off the main emergency-entry rate when valid work ID is shown on arrival. It does not apply to additional doors, charges or replacement locks and cannot be combined with another offer. ID is checked only and is not copied or retained.
12. Your rights. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or affects your statutory consumer rights, including the right for services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
By instructing Lock717 to attend or proceed with work, you confirm that you accept these Terms & Conditions.
